Hadley's birth story

Four months later and I am finally getting around to writing Hadley's birth story. It's amazing how just adding one more child to the mix makes life so much crazier.
I had been progressing for a few weeks before my due date, but never officially went on my own. My doctor decided to induce me a week early hoping to prevent a lot of the problems I had with Creighton. Creighton was too big for me, so we were hoping that by going a week early Hadley would be smaller. I finally got the call late June 17th letting me know that I was scheduled for the first induction of the day. Woohoo! I was told that I would receive a call anywhere between 6 and 10 the morning of the 18th. Waiting at 4 hours was torture! The call finally came at about 9:45 letting me know that I could officially come in. We packed up our stuff in quickly headed to the hospital. It all still seemed so surreal. It was so exciting knowing that by the next day we would have our little baby girl. We got to the hospital, checked in, and were sent to our room. After waiting for what seemed like the longest hour of my life, the nurse finally came in and got me all hooked up and started on the pitocin. There had been an emergency in the hospital which caused us to wait that hour. Once she started me on the pitocin, my body took off. When I first got to the hospital I was already dilated to a 3 and 90 effaced. With all of the contractions I was already having, my body didn't need much pitocin. They started me off with a small dose and never had to raise it again. I quickly received an epidural even they told me it was either now or wait for over an hour. Man was I glad to get that epidural. Everything went pretty smooth after that! Time was passing, well, slowly. Hours went by and I was progressing just like they were hoping I would. Come early afternoon (I can't remember the time), they started noticing little babies heart rate drop during every contraction. There were a few possible causes of this. I had stopped dilating as quickly and they thought that she was possibly turned slightly, meaning her head was more on my hip than straight down. I turned onto my side with my leg lifted up hoping it would cause her to turn. The doctors had me flipping from side to side, they were pushing on her, all in hope to get her to budge. Well in typical Hadley fashion, she became super agitated in the process and her heart rate dropped and didn't want to come back up. Worried it would stay that way, they stopped the pitocin and gave me some medication to stop my contractions. As soon as the contractions stopped her heart jumped back up and stayed that way. Slowly, after about 45 minutes, they started me back on the pitocin. Everything was going fine but she still seemed stressed through contractions. While laying on my side, she eventually seemed to turn but her heart was still dropping while I was contracting. Their next thought was that the cord was wrapped around her neck. Pretty soon I started to feel every contraction. I was experiencing sooooooo much back labor. They gave me another dose through the epidural and I was ready to go. I had finally reached 10 cm but the nurse wanted me to wait just a little bit longer in hopes that Hadley would drop down a little bit more. As the nurse was finishing her sentence, I became incredibly nauseous. She handed me a bag and I barely made it! I threw up quite a bit. After throwing up so much, the nurse decided to check me again. The pressure of me throwing up had caused Hadley to drop. Perfect! Not the best way for it to happen, but at least it was quick. I finally was starting to push! A few minutes in my doctor told me she could see hair. Hair!!! I was ecstatic! Soon after that came her head... with her hand! Her hand was on her face. Her hand is what was causing her heart to drop through the contractions. Ten minutes of pushing and she was out! I seriously couldn't believe it! 10:04 pm, 8 lbs 4 oz, 21.5 in. They handed her to me and I couldn't stop crying. There we were. Drew, Hadley, and I. I could't have asked for a more perfect story. And Drew holding our little girl? I thought my heart may burst! The nest day when Creighton came to meet his little sister? Seriously. My mama heart was exploding! I was in heaven.
